I’m excited to be running for a full-term on the Falls Church City Council and have the chance to serve our community again as an elected official.  Last year I ran, won, and had the privilege of fulfilling the remaining term of a member that resigned.

My year on City Council, along with my four years serving on the Falls Church City School Board as a publicly elected official, is the honor of a lifetime. I learned the importance of listening to all members of the community to understand all sides of an issue.

Looking forward, we as a community will need to balance growth with livability and affordability.  These are not challenges but opportunities to continue to make Falls Church City one of the most desirable locations to attend school, live and work in the region.

Given this, my platform focuses on four major themes:

Streets

In our neighborhoods, emphasizing safe streets to walk and bike and addressing congestion on our major throughfares. In addition, expanding the tree canopy, adding pocket parks and public art to make our streets enjoyable places to spend time with our neighbors.

Services

Exploring staffing needs and process improvements in our city offices to improve customer service for our residents and streamlining permitting and support for local businesses.

Schools

Watching the impact development and single-family home construction has on school enrollment and fund the schools so they can maintain small class sizes.

Stewardship

Dedication to long-term planning and coalition building so that our city remains a place that is welcoming and thriving for current residents and future generations.

As a result of my four years as an elected official, I understand what is required to be an effective City Council member- a commitment to do the work, understand all sides of the issues, be open to feedback from community members, and work collegially with City Council colleagues and the general government staff.

Let's move forward together!

All the best,

Laura
